This is a very rare artifact. It as worn on the earlobe that was pierced to allow this to slide into place and held in place by the small grove. It is fashioned from a speckeled hardstone and is highly polished. The front side is rounded and very symmetrical. The back side has been flattened and is more oblong. Between the front and the back is a small grove on its entire circumference. This is a great example of Native American artwork and fashion.

This is a very old and rare item that is in excellent condition. It was ingeniously made of from one piece of hand carved wood that was notched and then bent into position. The wood was then tied with what I believe is sinew. Then it was covered with animal hide, possibly buffalo, that was stretched and tied around the entire stirrup. This piece shows the high skill level and beautiful craftsmanship of it’s maker. It was purchased at a relic show in central Ohio in the late 60’s.
This is a great example of a sharpened and polished bone tool.
This is an unusual limestone polishing tool with nice grooves in it from putting an edge on axes and celts. This piece has beautiful use wear.
This looks to be a leg of an ancient pot with a human face design. It is part of a collection that was purchased in the 1960’s. It is possibly South American.
Here is an example of an ancient unfinished project. I am sure it was on his ‘honey-do’ list. Finely pecked into shape but only started drilling the hole. It had a lot of potential. If it could only tell the story as to why it didn’t get finished. This is a great study piece.
This beautifully made discoidal was purchased at auction in the late 60’s and has been in our collection since. A piece like this is not often offered for public sale. But it is not a personal find so I want to check it’s authenticity before selling.
Now the rest of the story…The opinion was that it was a historically made piece. I am glad I didn’t let it get out the door. I guess it could still make a good paperweight.
This is a nice example of a sharpened bone needle. It has nice patina and shows use wear.
Very thinly made with nice patina and shows lots of use wear.
