This one shows the hand carving on the sides and has a nice hole drilled on the end for mounting on the shaft. It has an ancient crack in it but it still is very solid. It also has great patina.

This looks to be a leg of an ancient pot with a human face design. It is part of a collection that was purchased in the 1960’s. It is possibly South American.
These items were part of a collection purchased in the mid 60’s. There is one small painted pottery disk that has been ground smooth on the edges. There are two other interesting items fashioned from bone, shell or possibly ivory. The long piece has been drilled at one end. I am not sure of their use but if anyone knows please send me an email.
This is a nice example of a sharpened bone needle. It has nice patina and shows use wear.
This one has a bit of a curve to it.
Here is an example of an ancient unfinished project. I am sure it was on his ‘honey-do’ list. Finely pecked into shape but only started drilling the hole. It had a lot of potential. If it could only tell the story as to why it didn’t get finished. This is a great study piece.
A spade or chopper that shows some sheen to the chert from use. It also has some ground down edges. Overall a nice big piece.
This is a great example of a sharpened and polished bone tool.
This beautifully made discoidal was purchased at auction in the late 60’s and has been in our collection since. A piece like this is not often offered for public sale. But it is not a personal find so I want to check it’s authenticity before selling.
Now the rest of the story…The opinion was that it was a historically made piece. I am glad I didn’t let it get out the door. I guess it could still make a good paperweight.
