3/4 Grooved Axe
3/4 Grooved Axe

This is a pretty nice axe. It has a great bit with no nicks. I find it very interesting and in my opinion this axe was still under construction. The pecking and scraping marks are still visible on most of the body of the axe. The base has a nice final polish. The bit has some polishing and it shows no signs of use-wear. Also there is a small area that shows the beginnings of a fine final polish.

Here is a beautiful 2-tone Indiana Green point. It is a bit unusual in how it was made. The maker used the natural edge of the raw material on one edge and planned the point around that. That edge only has tiny pressure flakes on one side. See the photos. It has been ground on the base.

This is a great example of Native American leasure activity. This hardstone sphere rolls surprisingly straight for being hand made probably more than a thousand years ago. It was never polished and shows the pecking marks and ground surfaces with a considerable amount of patina. You can definately tell it was man made.

This is a high quality point. I am pretty sure the material is Attica Chert. It has excelent workmanship with fine serrations and a highly thinned and ground base. The maker had to deal with a vein of impurities in the material. I think he navigated the problem very well.
