This celt is fashioned from the most gorgeous material. The bit has been pecked and polished to perfection. It still has a fine sharp blade. The material is very dense as it appears to me to be heavier than it should be.
This is a beautiful Archaic Period lanceolate blade. It weighs in at just under 4″ It has a very highly ground base. What appears in the photos to be a nick on the side is what I believe to have been done at the time of manufacture.
This is a nice group of drills of various styles. They range in size from 1-3/4″ to 1-1/8″ Counties recovered from will be furnished to the buyer or any one else who asks.
.
This is a group of 6 slate pendant or gorget pieces. They can be very useful to study the conical hole manufacture and the pecking and polishing process. These were truly Native American works of art for ornamental purposes.
I believe this is an Illinois Liverpool. That is an Adena culture point that was specific to Illinois. This point was purchased at a farm auction near Old Shawneetown in the early 1970’s. It was the largest point in that collection.
This is a nice Early Archaic period point. A classic style with fine edgework and a highly ground base. The ‘alteration’ to the ear and base were done by a percussion blow at the same time and from the same side. Judging from the patina, it was around the original time of manufacture.
This is an awesome example of a Megalodon Shark tooth. Megalodons first appeared about 23 million years ago and roamed the oceans until 2.6 million years years ago. To this guy, Jaws would be just a snack. Own this piece of American history with Free Shipping.
This is a cool tool. It has the most excellent patina. The material has fossil shells embedded throughout it. It is hard to show them in the photos. The large divots are not chips in the material, they are the shells.
Here is a nice Early Archaic Point with fragile ears. It has a ground base and is beveled and serrated.
This is a great blade. It has paleo flaking and fine edge work that is difficult to capture in the pictures. It is made of high quality fossiliferous chert.
